Safaricom broke its silence today with a strong declaration directed at all of its customers who live in different local and regional locations.
The mobile service provider has published a list of two situations in which it will cancel M-PESA accounts for its customers who reside in prominent areas. Safaricom has indicated that any subscribers whose MPESA accounts are not used for ninety days would have their accounts terminated.
Safaricom has notified all of its users that they must do transactions using the desired MPESA service for a continuous period of ninety days in an effort to prevent the terrible trap of having their MPESA deleted.
Additionally, Safaricom has made it clear that it will also disable MPESA if it finds that the account has been compromised. According to the article, hacking is one of the numerous ways an M-PESA account could be hacked, which could result in the account being deleted or suspended.
