Omtatah leads Court battle to block new EACC Boss Amid controversy

A petition has been filed in the High Court to block Abdi Ahmed Mohamud, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), from taking office in January 2025. The case is spearheaded by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, along with Nakuru-based doctor Magare Gikenyi, Eliud Matindi, and other activists.

The petitioners argue that Mohamud’s appointment was flawed and did not adhere to the principles of transparency, meritocracy, and public participation as required by law. They are challenging the recruitment process and want the court to stop him from assuming office until their concerns are addressed. According to them, the process lacked credibility and undermines public trust in the fight against corruption.
